Hey. My name's Zayd. I'm a Software Developer based in Ottawa, Ontario who loves crafting well-written, functional code that empowers the technology we use. I have an honours degree in Computer Science from Carleton University, where I also minored in Japanese. After graduating I spent some time as a freelance developer, kind of doing a little bit of everything - websites, apps, devops - you name it! I then spent a couple of years working in the defense and aerospace industry. I'm currently employed at Vidyard. My technological interests span the fields of machine learning and algorithm design.
Besides the work that I do, I love travelling to new places, learning new languages, doing theatre and dancing to loud music in the middle of the night. I'm also a writer, fitness enthusiast, and part-time D&D adventurer. I strive to excel in all that I set out to accomplish and I'm always ready to take on new challenges!
Dice Bowl is a dice roller app for Android that you can use to roll and calculate dice for tabletop games. You can download it here.
Side Story is an Instagram page where I post short stories inspired by photos. There's also a Facebook page!
A while ago I built an Android application called Spread. It was an app that let you anonymously send and receive positive messages to other users in your area, though I've since archived it from the play store. There were many other features that helped brighten up your day, and the days of others!
Most of my software portfolio goes up on my GitHub account, so you can find a bunch of interesting projects that usually aren't published or proudly displayed on my site over there.
